While traveling extensively throughout the world, Robert grew enchanted with the mystery of what lies beyond each staircase.

Why did someone build it?  How did they dream it would look and serve the people who trod upon it?

He began this project in 1974 in Sweden were he refined much of the curiosity to explore the mystery of life as seen through the eyes of the unknown builders of dreams.

It was not until he visited Japan that the deeper meaning of how a staircase is a metaphor for ones own goals and aspirations.  As he did so many times, while looking at the pictures, pause and think about your own life.
